Trading airplanes for motorcycles.

As much of a bummer as it is to say, I put in my notice at work last week and this coming Tuesday will be my last day working at the airport, so you’ll probably notice this blog will go pretty inactive for long periods of time. I was offered a position in Nashville with Harley Davidson and I’m going to take it, so I’ll be moving from Houston in a week or so.

Leaving the airport was a tremendously difficult thing to do, but I know it will be good for me in the end. This job and the entire airport has been my entire life for the past three years, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I have met some of the most incredible people, experienced some of the most awesome things, and had wonderful opportunities because of this job. It has probably been the single biggest thing that shaped me into the young adult I’ve become.

Aviation is a truly incredible community and I feel lucky to have experienced it first hand. Hopefully I will get back into it some day, who knows, I could even end up back where I work now. I’m really bummed out that I won’t have my pilot’s license before I leave, but if it’s meant to be then it’ll be, I suppose.

So, thank you to all of the followers I’ve gained on here over the past year or so of having this blog.

If anybody is ever in the Nashville area, I’d welcome the opportunity to get high with you guys. ;P I know I’ll miss flying so so SO much (especially getting wild and upside down), and I’m only hoping motorcycles will give me even half the free feeling airplanes do. If anybody wants to keep up with  my shenanigans (inevitably involving a lot of motorcycles now) feel free to follow my personal account.

And there was another beautiful Stearman at the avionics shop too. I am surrounded by beautiful Stearmans and it is torture.

So one of my customers bought a beautiful Stearman and I’m in love.

I’ve always wanted to go up in one of these. So so so bad.

We’ve officially got the whole Piper Malibu family, the Matrix, the Mirage, and the Meridian.

From here on out, the 310 shall be referred to as the animal annihilator. First in 2011 when it took on the deer on the runway, and yesterday a buzzard knocked out the nose gear on takeoff so they made an emergency landing and the nose gear collapsed.

Might be totaled this time. Kind of a bummer.

Annual time on one of my favorite planes

Today my boss decided to run up the twin beech in front of the parking lot.

As soon as he did it I pointed out that he probably sprayed all the cars with oil.

Didn’t remember about it until I went to get in my car and realized I couldn’t see out of my windshield and I had ten minutes to get to the bank before it closed. Needless to say, I ended up having to wash my windshield and the bank closed before I could get there.

The downsides to warbirds… Ugh.

I hate living here but this airport will always be home to me, more so than the rest of Houston.
